因为这个热带水果切开以后，里面是蜡白色的，看上去像蜡一样。其实这个水果还有很多名字：love apple, java apple, royal apple, bell fruit (or bellfruit), Jamaican apple, water apple, mountain apple, cloud apple, wax jambu, and rose apple 等等。管它叫 apple，仅仅只是它的颜色像美国华盛顿州产的苹果而已，吃起来口感不像苹果，味道也不像苹果。
